We started fixing leaks because we kept getting called to roofs that had already been patched twice. Somebody had put roof cement over the stain, somebody else had replaced a handful of shingles that were never the problem, and the ceiling in a Forest Lake bedroom was still dripping. Fix My Leaking Roof Tuscaloosa exists to do the part those two skipped: find the entry point first.
Why we find first
A leak repair that does not start with the source is a guess with a ladder. We go into the attic, follow the water trail on the decking to the highest wet point, and go onto the roof knowing what we are looking for. If it is not obvious, we hose-test one component at a time with somebody watching inside. It takes longer than slapping caulk on a boot. It is also why we almost never go back to the same roof twice for the same leak, and why we can say the return visit is free if we do.
How we quote
In writing, with the photo of the problem next to the price, before any work. The leak you called about is its own line; anything else we found is a separate line you can decline. No trip fee, no diagnostic fee unless you booked a detection-only visit, and the written number is the invoice. If a repair is not the right answer we say so and show you why, and we do not turn a $300 boot into a replacement pitch.
Who shows up
A small crew that does repairs as the main business, not a replacement company sending its newest hire to look at a leak. The person on your roof has traced hundreds of Tuscaloosa leaks, knows which streets in Alberta and Holt have the 2011 roofs and which houses in The Downs have chimneys with no counterflashing, and carries the boots, flashing and sealant to fix most of what we find on the first visit. We work Monday through Saturday, 7 am to 6 pm, and after-hours leak messages are answered the same day.
Landlords and student rentals
A large share of Tuscaloosa's houses are rentals, and we work with the managers who run them. Send the address and the tenant's photo; we schedule access with the tenant, email you the diagnosis and written price, and take your approval by reply. We bill the company, not the tenant, send after-photos for the file, and keep a per-property history for portfolios of five or more roofs so every call starts with what we found last time.

Are you a roof replacement company that also does repairs?
No. Repairs and leak detection are the main business. We will tell you when a roof is past repairing and show you the photos, but we are not on your roof looking for a reason to sell you a new one.
Do you work with property managers and landlords?
Yes, a large part of our Tuscaloosa work is rentals around campus and in Alberta. We coordinate access with the tenant, send the manager a photo diagnosis and written price, take approval by reply, and bill the company.
